Thanksgiving

Wow! For 3 days now I haven't been able to log in. I read everything and tried everything. Then I tried all over again and bam there it was! We stuffed ourselves on Thanksgiving and then took our turkey naps. I don't think it is the food as much as the work that makes me sleepy!!
Congrats to Mary Jane for finishing beauty school! I have officially retired from cutting hair! So don't even ask unless .....

Facebook

I did it! With my capable helper husband, I signed on to Facebook. Find me at Sally Button Pierce. So I have now started a family blog, facebook, and learned how to use tabs!! Don't get to excited, I still have much to learn. Next project....discover the internet!

The rest of the story

So, I asked about the boy that got in trouble yesterday and what happened to him. The asst. principal had him call his mother and tell her what he had said. Apparently, the whole thing started because of the name of the author of the story we were reading, Dick King-Smith, the author of Babe. The student was going to have to serve detention during recess and lunch. He was very good today and very polite. Unfortunately, the story has gotten around already. Today went much better and I sure do get tired to tell students to be quiet!

Mary Jane Is Finished!!!!

What did you say?

Today I taught in a 4th grade classroom. The afternoon class was rowdier than the morning class of students. I had to call in their teacher at one point to get them to cooperate. I was so tired and not willing to put up with their silliness. Well, it was then that a girl came up along with a boy and she proceeded to tell me what this boy said to her. He told her she could suck his ............ I looked at her and she pointed it out for me. Needless to say that this threw me for a loop! I told the young man to step out to the hall. He proceeded to tell me he hadn't said the "word". I proceed to tell him young gentlemen don't ever speak like that. He was crying but trying to convince me that since he didn't say the word that it didn't count. I eventually took him back to his homeroom class for his teacher to deal with. She took him to the Assistant Principal. I will be teaching his class tomorrow so I hope he isn't there. Right now I am very thankful that I got to home school you guys. I can't imagine someone saying that to me at that age (10). I hope no one said something like that to you guys at that age.

The Office quote...I will take 2 of these brownies with me and eat them in my office at my leisure because that is healthier for me.

Home sweet home

We made it back safely! The mountains in W Virginia were stunningly beautiful. The snow was such a treat and blessing from the Lord. He cares about the small things too. I am working at school tomorrow and Friday.

CELTIC THUNDA!

so november is the best month EVER.
last night amanda and i went to see Celtic Thunder at the Alltell Arena. we had some lame seats all the way up on the side, but after the first two songs, we had been scoping out some seats on the floor. so i went first and just walked to this row that was mostly empty. then amanda came a little later so it didn't look obvious. we were 5th row from the stage! whoohoo! Amanda didn't believe me that it was a gift from the Lord! but it was. She took a bunch of amazing pictures. They were amazing. for anyone that doesn't know, its 5 guys that are uber irish and sing. They were flawless. My heart about expoded from the beauty! :)

who is dirk?

the weekend went WONDERFULLY. unlce rob was an angel and annie, david, lisa and i are not emotional people so it was very chill. i drove most of the time(in lisa's car). except she drove IN dallas, and i just gave her bad directions so we got lost a few times. But the concert was beautiful! worth everything. For all of you family that doesn't know, Copeland is my favorite band of all time (besides the beatles) and Aaron Marsh(the lead singer) is a poet from Jesus. UH MAY ZA ZING. the end!

Yey it's like a family journal... I thought it was kinda gay at first but true that mom about being super busy.

I HAVE 4 DAYS OF BEAUTY SCHOOL HELL and 3 HOURS LEFT.
Praise the Lord... I've never been so broke and so freaking tired in my life!

The band stuffs going well. The cd should be in hand in Jan.. if we raise another $1000 but God's funny at how he gives it.... it's soooo random.

I've decided Allison and Jesse are my favorite friends and David would be too if I ever saw him or if he gave me a birthday present... HAHAHAH

Sunday Mass

Yesterday, we finished scrapping the glue off of the walls!! Then we ate dinner at the cheese factory and took a tour of Pittsburgh. They have a mountain called Mt. Washington that is much like our west mountain. However, they see skyscrapers and where the 3 rivers meet. What a beautiful skyline! Today we attended mass. God can speak to us anywhere and through anyone and He did that for me today. We came home and ate last night's leftovers. We are going to tour U of Pitt this afternoon. My earache is much improved!! Thanks for the prayers.

Beautiful day

Sarah and I worked on the dining room today. We scrapped and washed down the wallpaper glue off of the plaster walls. We took a nice walk to a little shopping area. I found a perfect little gift for someone for Christmas. Lynn made us a delicious pizza and homemade chocolate chip cookies. We are watching the movie Ratatouie right now. We are going to do some sight seeing tomorrow.

Buttonwood goes online

Ummmm, ok, This is the beginning of the Pierce family blog! I, mom, am in Pittsburgh, PA visiting David and Lynn Wright with Sarah. It is beautiful here! Lots of hills, sidewalks, and great old homes. In their basement they have what is referred to in this old homes as a Pittsburgh potty. The steal workers would come in and clean up down stairs before coming into the house. We went for a great walk in a park called Frick park. We ate enchiladas and had margaritas!! Now we are going to go watch The Office!! I am going to go and send you txt message about this site. I hope you all think this is a great idea!! As your lives get busier and fuller, this will be a great way for us to let the other members of the Buttonwood gang in on your life.
